Botswanna air ambulanceIn Botswana, pilot Tim Schubert and his family are very pleased that the Ministry of Health of the country has once again awarded the contract for its medical flights to Missionary Aviation Fellowship. "These flights help to maintain the mission flight operations,” notes Schubert. About two thirds of all MAF flights in the country involve medical ministry. Pilots are stationed in Maun and Gaborone.

Several years ago, the government pulled this service from MAF. But then the MAF began providing this service by assisting the company which had the contract; eventually, the government reassigned this work back to MAF.

Since 2006, the number of flights has steadily increased each year. "We will now need to find more pilots. We’ve had many flights in the past three months. During the month of September I flew as much as I ever have in a month." Along with being a licensed pilot, Tim is also a certified airplane mechanic, making him valuable both in the air and on the ground.
