Police checkpoints are quite common along the roads in Nigeria; most of the time, they are seeking a handout of some sort. As Crystal Gosnell prepared for a long trip to  Abuja, she grabbed a bag of Gideon’s New Testaments. “Thus began my son’s own ministry,” says Crystal.

“He loves riding along with mommy on long road trips and handing out Bibles to the police  – or anyone in uniform, for that matter. He even gives them to the gatemen at the local university. Sometimes, even when they don't stop us, Tom asks me to stop because he wants to give them Bibles.”

“Mama Tom, is police?” asks Tom. “How many are they?” He always wants to make sure he has enough for all the police at each checkpoint.
