Through his work with SAT-7, the satellite television broadcasting ministry reaching the Middle East, one of our coworkers has many opportunities to speak with Christians from around the region. Not a day goes by without some news from this area of the world, regarding the persecution of Christians and the challenges of presenting the Gospel. "The Middle East offers many opportunities for prayer,” said one coworker. “There are the different regions, nations and people. Pray for openness to the gospel. For those who propagate it and to those who hear it. Then of course for the safety and protection of the Christians. In many places they are attacked.” An Iranian pastor wrote, "The prosecution has become much stronger in Iran. Pray for the Christians here, so they remain brave and faithful to God. Pray for wisdom, for safety. Pray for opportunities to meet, without being arrested. Pray for the people of Iran, that their confidence in God grows. Pray that the church continues to spread." A pastor from Lebanon says, “"I'm not worried about the Christians in the Middle East. Since the beginning we live under persecution. However, we do not have unity. We see ourselves as different denominations. I pray for the Christians because, if we were united, would not the region, indeed the whole world recognize it? Let us pray for peace in our lives and the world. If we have peace in our hearts, the whole world is thus fulfilled.” |
