The old hymn, “I Love to Tell the Story” speaks about the great joy and thankfulness which should motivate any believer to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. But in many places around the world, there are other good reasons – and many obstacles to overcome.“How does one share the biblical message in a society in which many can not read and write?” “How does one tell the story, so it can be remembered and then shared again by others?” These were just some of the questions addressed in theory and practice at a five-day seminar in Bangladesh. Missionaries Andreas and Heidi Brecht joined participants from surrounding villages at the event. Many of the Christians who attended were quite nervous because there were many Muslims in the audience. The Brechts tell of one pastor who, although very active in his church, had never spoken to non-Christians about the gospel. At his first attempt to tell a Bible story in public, he had more than a hundred listeners! It was a great encouragement and answer to prayer. “Please pray that the life of the vanishingly few Christians in Bangladesh is a testimony to God’s love, and that they have the courage to confess Jesus Christ.” |
