Students enlisted the support and participation of local churches, groups, and organizations. Runners carried the Bible for a mile or more, while participants and supporters were encouraged to pray for the island of Guam along the way. The event started at 6:00 a.m. at Talofofo with two groups carrying a Bible, one along a northern route and the other taking a southern route, as they followed the perimeter of Guam. The event culminated at Ipao beach with a performance by PIU’s Voices of Micronesia and a closing ceremony at 4:00 p.m. |

It’s about 30 miles (about 48km) long, and eight miles (just under 13km) across at its widest point. The island of Guam is a lot more important than its size would indicate. But it’s small enough to run all the way around – if you have the energy. A number of students at Pacific Islands University had plenty of energy – enough to sponsor a Bible Run Around the Island on January 2nd, 2012.
