1974 at the invitation of Bangladesh Baptist Society, Liebenzell began work in the most densely populated country – and one of the poorest – on earth. Bangladesh is also well known for its natural catastrophes such as typhoons, droughts and flooding.

Liebenzell's roots are in its ministry in China. For over 50 years, Liebenzell missionaries labored to bring the Gospel to the people of this land.

In the “land of the rising sun”, Liebenzell has been actively spreading the Gospel since 1927. Today about 50 congregations have grown out of the ministry and formed the Japanese Evangelical Church Association for the purpose of mutual support and cooperation.

Although Liebenzell began its ministry in Russia in 2001, the roots for this work go back almost 500 years, when the first evangelical Lutheran church was built in Moscow.

While eastern Asia is influenced by Eastern mysticism and religious thought, western Asia is firmly under the grip of Islam. The cradle lands of the early church count only minute populations of Christians, many of them persecuted for their faith. Active ministry by expatriates is either forbidden or strongly discouraged.

Liebenzell Mission had established over a half-century of ministry experience in China when the Communist government prohibited missionary activity in 1952. Seeking ways to use trained personnel and a wealth of experience, arrangements were made in 1955 to enter Taiwan.

|
Liebenzell Mission International began work in Mongolia in 1995, just five years after the country opened to foreign missionaries. A pastor and his family from Liebenzell Mission Japan began working with a church in the capital of Ulan Bator.
