Micronesia: Short Term IMPACT 2010 Print E-mail
Pacific Rim

Two years ago Liebenzell Mission of Germany saw the opportunity to get young adults involved in serious short term missions experiences. The result was the IMPACT program: teams of up to ten young adults (18 to 30 years old) living, learning and working together to spread the good news of Jesus Christ.

For the summer of 2010, IMPACT is taking on another challenge: an international team of diverse cultures and languages to minister in Micronesia – an island region in the Pacific with a rich diversity of cultures and languages.

Zambia: Dorm Parents Print E-mail
Africa

Amano Christian School in Zambia needs dorm parents. This boarding K-12 school uses a modified British system and all teaching is done in English. As soon as possible, Amano needs people, preferably couples, willing to serve as dormitory parents. This important post has no special technical qualifications, but you need to lov e working with children and enjoy getting an early start each morning! Since children do best in a consistent environment, Amano would prefer people willing to commit to a full four-year term.

Bangladesh: English and computer teachers Print E-mail
Asia

Schools run by our partner church in Bangladesh are in need of English and computer instructors. (If you can do both, great!) You’ll be living on the school grounds and teaching secondary students. Teaching experience is preferred, especially in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL).

Instruction is in English. Learning Bengali is not required although you will find it helpful; a one-week “survival course” in the language is offered.

This can be a short term commitment of only three to six months (depending upon the visa you receive), but it could be up to four years. The schools are located in Dinajpur and Khulna. (The school in Khulna is a boys school and we would prefer a male teacher for this situation.)

Papua New Guinea: High school teachers Print E-mail
Pacific Rim

Liebenzell missionaries first arrived on Manus Island (off the northern coast of Papua New Guinea) in 1914; the Evangelical Church of Manus (ECoM) is now a fully independent church association. A church-run Christian high school was established around 1990. About 300 students are enrolled.

The school is usually looking for English and computer teachers. All teaching is done in English, although you will find it helpful to learn Pidgin. Since English is a second language for many of the students, someone with TESL experience (Teaching English as a Second Language) is preferred. Housing is available on the school grounds.
